This photograph was hardly adjusted at all, but somehow the sunlight in Mexico gave this incredible look to a scene outside Cholula -- as if it were a pencil drawing. In fact, even the composition reminds me of my frustration in drawing class (the one art class I took in university), when I was repeatedly told not to leave too much negative space. It seemed as if our works were judged mainly on how much pencil lead we left scratched on the board around the drawing: we were constantly urged to fill the page right up and over the margins, overflowing. It's the only thing I remember from the class. I left feeling a little disillusioned somehow: wasn't art supposed to be a bit more subtle and complex than that?
