ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ken Stange is a Canadian poet, novelist, and visual artist with
a strong interest in science and computers. His last book of
poetry was Advice To Travellers (Penumbra Press, 1994).
His computer art and poetry has been shown in juried shows and
published in literary and art periodicals. In 1996, Penumbra
Press published A Smoother Pebble, A Prettier Shell: a
book which includes prints of many of artworks in this gallery
with explanations and explications, as well as an introductory
essay on the relationship of art and science.
Always interested in the interface between the visual and literary
arts, he considers the computer the most appropriate medium with
which to explore this colourful 'gray' area, and even calls his
visual artworks 'poems', because they contain important textual
elements.
He is also the author of commercial and public domain software
and has published programs and articles in computer magazines
and scientific journals. He is interested in corresponding with
anyone who shares his interest in the relationship of literature
and art and science.
